Drift

The brief for this animatic was "Drift": the idea of exploring the ways in which structures can dominate the societies that surround them. For example, place a church at the centre of a town and people will attend it on Sundays, follow it's religion, organise clubs and meetings and events in it, etc; place a shopping centre at the centre of the same town and people equally visit it religiously each weekend, meet friends in it, organise clubs and meetings and events in and around it, and follow the religion of consumerism.
In this animatic, Battersea Power Station comes to life, operated by a mystery figure, uproots itself and travels across the country to a small village where it parks itself on top of the existing Cathedral.
People in the village are heading to the Cathedral for Sunday worship when the power station emerges and settles at the centre of their town, destroying the Cathedral. The operator emerges from the roof and the people of the village instantly worship him and enter the new building as though it were there in place of the Cathedral all along.
